Volunteer in Los Angeles - Volunteer for Charity - Food on Foot

Food on Foot gives me an opportunity to give back to the community. I enjoy being able to lend a hand and help those who are in need of food. Many people take food for granted, having meals three times or more a day, but not thinking of those who don't have access to meals. Giving these people food gives them hope for a better future and shows them that there are people that care about them. What I like most about Food on Foot is that not only is it open to the whole community, but they actually have a program that brings people from off the street and works them up to earning a job. They are able to climb their way through each process with the encouragement of the volunteers at Food on Foot. Food on Foot gives them a second chance, which is something I think everyone deserves. Of the two times I've volunteered, my last visit was most memorable. There were so many people lined up for the food, and a few of them were children. One of the kids looked up at me with the biggest smile and waved at me from her stroller. Another was so happy to see the food…and that alone made me think of how much we actually have. I love being given the opportunity to help out in my community, and Food on Foot has given me that opportunity. -Emma EndFragment
